〘名〙 (「おん」は「陰」の呉音)① 易学で、互いに反する性質をもった二種の気。両者の相互作用によって天地間の万物が造り出されるとした。日、春、夏、東、南、火、男など積極的性質を持つものを陽とし、月、秋、冬、西、北、水、女など消極的性質を持つものを陰とする。いんよう。おんみょう。※三代格‐一七・貞観三年(861)六月一六日「陰陽之運、随動而差」② 「おんようじ(陰陽師)」「おんようどう(陰陽道)」「おんようりょう(陰陽寮)」などの略。※文徳実録‐仁寿三年(853)五月壬寅「並藤善陰陽推歩之学」※今昔(1120頃か)四「陰陽を以て祈ると云へども、験(しるし)无し」
