Ūljā'ītū Khān (English spelling)

1281‐1316
The eighth khan of the Ilkhanate. Reigned 1304-16. Son of the fourth khan, Arghun. He promoted the reform policies of his brother Ghazan Khan by appointing Rashid al-Din, ushering in the most stable period in the history of the Ilkhanate. During his time, other Ulus also established powerful unified governments, and the East and West of Eurasia were united under the Genghis Khan family. It was against this backdrop that he personally participated in compiling the "Jushi" (Collection of Histories), a kind of world history, and it is a monument to the world domination of the Mongol Empire, and a vivid testimony to the flourishing academic and cultural exchange between the East and the West at that time.

イル･ハーン国第8代のハーン。在位1304‐16年。第4代のハーン，アルグンの息子。ラシード･アッディーンを起用して兄ガーザーン･ハーンの改革諸政策を推進し，イル･ハーン国史上最も安定した時代をもたらした。彼の時代，他の諸ウルスにも強力な統一政権が誕生し，ユーラシア大陸の東西がチンギス･ハーン一門のもとに一つに結びつけられた。自ら参画して編纂させた一種の世界史《集史》はこうした時代背景で生まれた。モンゴル帝国世界支配の記念物であり，当時の東西学術･文化交流の盛行を如実に示す証でもある。
