Hungarian Basin

Japanese: ハンガリー盆地 - はんがりーぼんち（英語表記）Hungarian Basin

A basin that spreads across the middle reaches of the Danube River. It is bounded to the north and east by the Carpathian Mountains, to the west by the foothills of the Alps, and to the south by the Dinaric Alps. In Hungary, it is called the Karpathian Basin (Kárpát medence). Its area is approximately 300,000 km2. It was formed by the Alpine orogeny, and its topography is not flat. It is divided into the Great Hungarian Plain, the hills west of the Danube River, the small plain in the northwest, the Zagreb Basin in the southwest, and the Transylvanian Basin in the east. It has a fairly continental climate, with cold winters and somewhat hot summers.

ドナウ川の中流域に広がる盆地。北と東はカルパチ山脈に囲まれ，西はアルプスのふもと，南はディナル･アルプスに区切られる。ハンガリーではカルパチ盆地Kárpát medenceという。面積はほぼ30万km2。アルプス造山運動によって形成され，地形的には平たんではなく，ハンガリー大平原，ドナウ川以西の丘陵地，北西部の小平原，南西部のザグレブ盆地，東部のトランシルバニア盆地などに分かれる。かなり大陸的な気候で，冬が寒く夏がやや暑い。
