Also called causalgia. A peculiar burning pain caused by damage to the peripheral nerve trunks. It is not caused by a burn. It is likely to occur when partial damage occurs to the nerve trunks due to trauma to the limbs, and is accompanied by a series of autonomic nervous system disorders such as abnormalities in circulation, sweating, and bone tissue, but there are many unknowns about the mechanism. Mental excitement can also be a trigger. The first case was reported in 1872 as a result of battle injuries during the Civil War, but recently there has been an increase in cases caused by traffic injuries.
