Yuzawa City is located in the southern part of Akita Prefecture, bordering both Yamagata and Miyagi Prefectures. It was incorporated as a city in 1954. The central city, located at the southern end of the Yokote Basin, developed as a castle town of the Satake clan. It is served by the Ou Main Line, Route 13, and Route 108. The Tanabata Picture Lantern Festival (August), the Daimyo Procession (August), and the Inukko Festival (February) are the three major festivals that attract tourists. In the south, there is Doroyu Onsen (sulfur spring, 66°C) and Akinomiya Onsenkyo, and part of the city is part of Kurikoma Quasi-National Park. In March 2005, Inagawa Town, Ogatsu Town, and Minase Village from Ogatsu County were incorporated into the city. The area is 790.91 km2 . Population: 50,849 (2010).
