Mazdakite - Mazdakite

Japanese: マズダク教 - マズダクきょう

A religion founded by Mazdak during the Sassanid period. It preached the sharing of women and property, and the prohibition of eating meat, and has similarities with Zoroastrianism and Manichaeism. It gained influence during the reign of Kavad I (reigned 488-531), but was thoroughly suppressed toward the end of his reign. There is also a theory that it was influenced by Khurramism, an anti-Arab, anti-establishment religion in Iran in the 8th and 9th centuries.

ササン朝時代にマズダクMazdakが興した宗教。婦女子・財産の共有，肉食の禁止などを説き，ゾロアスター教やマニ教との類似点が見られる。カワード１世（在位488年―531年）治下に教勢を伸ばしたが，治世末期には徹底的な弾圧を受けた。８，９世紀イランの反アラブ・反体制的宗教ホッラム教への影響をいう説もある。
