Inpumon'in Daifu - Inpumon'in no Taifu

A poet of the Heian period. His father was Fujiwara Nobunari, and his mother was the daughter of Sugawara Ariyoshi, a doctor of literary writing. His cousin was a junior chamberlain. He served under Princess Ryoko (Inpumon'in), the daughter of Emperor Goshirakawa. As a member of the Karin-en, he had ties with Toshie, Saigyo, Fujiwara Takanobu, and others, and in 1187 (Bun'ichi 3), he solicited 100 poems from Fujiwara Teika, Ietaka, Takanobu, Jakuren, and others. He was selected for inclusion in the Zoku Shika Wakashu, selected by Fujiwara Seisuke, and subsequently participated in many poetry contests. Due to his prolific writing, he was also known as the "Senshu Daifu." His style was intelligent, powerful, and imposing. 平安時代の歌人。父は藤原信成,母は文章博士菅原在良の娘。従姉妹に小侍従がいる。後白河院皇女亮子内親王(殷富門院)のもとに出仕。歌林苑の会衆として,俊恵,西行,藤原隆信らと交流があり,文治3(1187)年には藤原定家・家隆・隆信,寂蓮らに百首歌を勧進した。藤原清輔選『続詞花和歌集』に選ばれ,以後多くの歌合に出詠し,その多作ぶりにより「千首大輔」とも呼ばれた。知的で,力強く,堂々とした作風。家集に『殷富門院大輔集』がある。<参考文献>森本元子「殷富門院大輔考」(『私家集の研究』)
