History of the entrepreneur

...Casebook in American Business History (1939) by Glass et al. is still used today as a textbook for business history lectures. In 1949, the Center for Entrepreneurial History was established as an interdisciplinary research organization by specialists in economic history, sociology, business administration, and other fields, centered on AH Cole (1889-1974), also of Harvard University. Entrepreneurial history, which focuses on the performance of entrepreneurs and managers and the social meaning of their activities, developed as a new trend in business administration, different from the narrow definition of business history by Glass et al. The results of the research at the Center, which continued to operate until 1959, were published in the journal Explorations in Entrepreneurial History, and Cole's Business Enterprise in its Social Setting (1959) was the culmination of this work.
