Snow Sasa - Snow Sasa

A perennial plant of the lily family (APG classification: Asparagaceae). The stem grows from a rhizome, is upright, about 40 cm tall, and the upper part grows diagonally upwards. The leaves are arranged in two rows on the stem, are oblong, about 10 cm long, covered with pubescent hairs on both sides, and have several vertical veins. From May to June, a panicle with soft pubescent hairs about 7 cm long is produced at the top of the stem, and many white flowers bloom. The flowers are about 5 mm in diameter, have six perianths that are narrowly oblong and pointed at the tip, and the fruit is a spherical berry about 5 mm in diameter that ripens red in October to November and produces several seeds.

ユリ科（APG分類：キジカクシ科）の多年草。根茎から茎を出し、直立して高さ約40センチメートル、上部は斜め上に伸びる。葉は茎に左右2列につき、長楕円(ちょうだえん)形で長さ約10センチメートル、両面が開出毛に覆われ、数本の縦脈がある。5～6月、茎頂に長さ約7センチメートルの軟らかい開出毛のある円錐(えんすい)花序をつけ、多数の白色花を開く。花は径約5ミリメートル、花被(かひ)は6枚あり狭長楕円形で先は鈍くとがる。果実は球形の液果で径約5ミリメートル、10～11月に赤く熟し、種子は数個できる。
