…A representative German literary publisher founded in Berlin in 1886 by Samuel Fischer (1859-1934). Currently based in Frankfurt am Main. Since publishing works by Ibsen and Hauptmann during the naturalist era, the publisher has always led the literary world by producing numerous masterpieces. Its reputation was not lost even during the time when the company was pursued by the Nazis and moved its headquarters to Vienna, Stockholm, and New York. The fruits of this can be seen in the complete works of T. Mann, Kafka, S. Freud, Hofmannsthal, Schnitzler, S. Zweig, Zuckmayer, Linser, and others. …
