Yuishikiha - Yogacara

Japanese: 唯識派 - ゆいしきは

A sect of Mahayana Buddhism that arose in the early 4th century in north-central India with Maitreya as its founder and with consciousness-only as its fundamental position. It was perfected by Asanga and Vasubandhu, and is also called Yogacara or Yoga-only because it aims to perfect the mind's consciousness through meditation practice (yogagyo). The Chinese Shelun sect and the Japanese Hosso sect belong to this sect.

中北インドで４世紀初めころ，マイトレーヤを始祖，唯識(ゆいしき)を根本的立場として興った大乗仏教の１派。無著(むぢゃく)，世親(せしん)によって大成され，心の識作用を瞑想的実践（瑜伽行(ゆがぎょう)）によって完成しようと企図するため瑜伽行派（ヨーガーチャーラ）または瑜伽行唯識派ともよばれる。中国の摂論(しょうろん)宗，日本の法相(ほっそう)宗はこの派に属する。
