A former town in Kita District, central Ehime Prefecture. Most of the area is mountainous, with the main settlement at the confluence of the Hijikawa and Kawabe Rivers. The area produces timber, tobacco, beef cattle, chestnuts, shiitake mushrooms, etc. The area includes the Shikanogawa Dam and Oyabu Onsen. In January 2005, the area was incorporated into Nagahama Town, Kawabe Village, and Ozu City in Kita District. Area: 63.30 km2 . Population: 3,119 (2003).
