...The series of lectures (Dante and others) given at private institutions by literary historian F. De Sanctis (1853-56), who had temporarily taken refuge in Turin during his exile from Naples in protest against the oppression of the independence period, were also welcomed by the free academic atmosphere of the Piedmont region. After graduating from the University of Naples, poet and critic Arturo Graf (1848-1913) became a professor at the University of Turin, and in 1883 he founded the magazine Italian Literary Thought, laying the foundations for Italian literary research in the Piedmont region. G. Gozzano, considered the leader of the Twilight School poets of the early 20th century, was born in Turin and studied under Graf at the University of Turin, where he incorporated the scenery of the Piedmont region against the backdrop of the Alps into his poems and fairy tales. ...
