Gyokuto. ※Nagauta Hagoromo (1918) “The jade rabbit, full of life but not chipped, on the fifteenth night of the month.”③ Name of a confectionery. A Japanese confectionery made by rolling bean paste into small balls , wrapping them in gyuhi , rolling them into the shape of a rabbit, and adding eyes and ears. There is also a version with a white sugar coating on top. 〔Kashiwa Funabashi (1841)〕[2] Kabuki Shosakugoto. Kiyomoto. Lyrics by Sakurada Jisuke II. Music by Kiyozawa Mankichi (first Kiyomoto Saibei). Choreography by Fujima Kanbei IV and Ichiyama Shichijuro. The original title is "Tama Usagi Tsuki no Kagekatsu ". It was first performed at the Edo Nakamuraza in 1820. It is one of the moon sections of the seven-form dance "Tsukiyuki Hana Nagori no Bundai " by Bando Mitsugoro III. The rabbit pounds Kagekatsu dumplings with a pestle, and fights with a raccoon dog to avenge his enemy. It is one of the masterpieces of Kiyomoto.

[1] 〘名〙① 月にいると考えられていた兎。※狂歌・徳和歌後万載集（1785）三「玉うさぎはねてなぐさめ十五夜はおのが毛程も月にきずなし」② 月の異称。ぎょくと。※長唄・羽衣（1918）「十五夜の、盈つれど欠けぬ玉兎」③ 菓子の名。餡(あん)を小さく丸めて求肥(ぎゅうひ)に包み、兎の形に丸め、目と耳をつけた和菓子。また、その上に白い糖衣をかけたものもある。〔菓子話船橋（1841）〕[2] 歌舞伎所作事。清元。二世桜田治助作詞。清沢万吉（初世清元斎兵衛）作曲。四世藤間勘兵衛・市山七十郎振付。本名題「玉兎月影勝(たまうさぎつきのかげかつ)」。文政三年（一八二〇）江戸中村座初演。三世坂東三津五郎の七変化舞踊「月雪花名残文台(つきゆきはななごりのぶんだい)」の月の部の一つ。兎が杵をふるって影勝団子をつき、狸と立ち回って仇を討つ。清元の代表作の一つ。
