A castle town in Tsuru County, Kai Province. It is located in the Katsura River basin, in the center of Tsuru City, Yamanashi Prefecture. According to the Katsuyamaki, in 1532, Oyamada Nobuari built a mansion in Yamura, and the Yamura mansion became the base of control of the county for three generations of the Oyamada clan. In 1582, the Oyamada clan was executed by order of Oda Nobunaga, and after that, the area was ruled by the Torii and Kato clans, and in 1593, Asano Ujishige entered the area. Construction of Yamura Castle, repairs to the subordinate castle Katsuyama Castle, and a general land survey of the county were carried out. At that time, Yamura was divided into two villages, Kamitani and Shitani. After the Battle of Sekigahara in 1601, Torii Narutsugu entered the area, and in 1632, Narutsugu's son Tadafusa was stripped of his title along with Tokugawa Tadanaga, and in 1633, Akimoto Yasutomo was given 18,000 koku in Tsuru County, and the Yamura Domain was established. During the Akimoto clan's reign, the castle town was developed, and Shinmachi, Hayamamachi, Kamimachi, Kamitenjinmachi, Shimotenjinmachi, Fukuromachi, Uratenjinmachi, Nakamachi, Shimomachi, and Yokomachi were formed along the Fuji Road from Kamitani Village to Shimotan Village. In addition, flood control was improved, such as the construction of the Tokaichiba irrigation channel, and new developments and the promotion of industry, such as silk textile production, were carried out. Tanimura became known as Gunnaijima, and silk merchants became active. In 1704, the Akimoto clan was transferred to Kawagoe in Bushu, and Tsuru County became a Shogunate territory, where Tanimura Jinya was established. After the entire Kai Province became a Shogunate territory in 1724, it became a branch Jinya for the various magistrate offices of Kofu, Kamiiida, Isawa, and other areas, and continued to do so until the end of the Edo period. In 1875, Kamitani Village and Shitaya Village merged to form Tani Village, which was incorporated as a town in 1896. For a long time it was the center of Minamitsuru County, but in 1954 it merged with the surrounding villages to form Tsuru City. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
