1508‐85 German Mannerist goldsmith. Born in Vienna as the son of a goldsmith, he moved to Nuremberg with his father Hans J. and brother Albrecht J. around 1534, where he obtained citizenship and the title of master goldsmith, and in 1552 was appointed manager of the city's mint and head of the Nuremberg goldsmiths' guild.
