A former town in Yabu District, northern Hyogo Prefecture. It is located in the middle reaches of the Maruyama River. Nishikigoi carp are farmed using silkworm pupae as feed, and Tajima cattle are also raised here. The Sanin Main Line runs through the town. In April 2004, it merged with Yabu District's Yabu Town, Oya Town, and Sekinomiya Town to form Yabu City. Area: 111.84 km2 . Population: 8,918 (2003). 兵庫県北部,養父郡の旧町。円山(まるやま)川の中流域にある。カイコの蛹(さなぎ)を飼料としてニシキゴイを養殖,但馬(たじま)牛飼育も行われる。山陰本線が通じる。2004年4月養父郡八鹿町,大屋町,関宮町と合併し,養父市となる。111.84km2。8918人(2003)。
