What is generally called cherry blossoms is a mainly deciduous tree of the genus Prunus and subgenus Prunus of the Rosaceae family, found mainly in the temperate and subtropical zones of the Northern Hemisphere. Many of them bloom simultaneously, making them beautiful and widely admired.
