Sedulius

…Paulinus of Nola, born in Bordeaux, France, was another excellent Christian poet, but with even more gentle feelings, he composed songs for the birth of Saint Felix and Christian wedding songs. The 5th and 6th centuries that followed were a time of anxiety and turmoil as the western part of the empire was conquered by Germanic tribes, and literature declined completely. However, the fervor of faith, by contrast, grew stronger, and such poets as Orosius, a disciple of Augustine, the apologist, Salvianus, author of On the Government of God, Sedulius (active around 470), who is said to be the most Christian poet, Boethius, known for his Consolation of Philosophy, and Cassiodorus, whose bibliography includes The History of the Church, are particularly noteworthy in terms of missionary activities, including Benedict, who founded the Benedictine Order after Pope Leo I in the 5th century, and Pope Gregory I. All three of these men produced a great deal of writing, including sermons, treatises, and letters, for the purpose of establishing doctrine and regulating monastic orders, but Benedict's Rule in particular had a major influence on later generations.
