Kyohoku

Japanese: 峡北 - きょうほく
Kyohoku

...The Kiyosato Plateau at the southeastern foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains is a new tourist destination that developed after the war, and is popular among young people, along with the Koumi Line, which runs through the highest stations on the JR lines, such as Nobeyama (1,346m) and Kiyosato (1,274m). There are also many hot springs, including Shimobe Onsen in the Kyonan region, Masutomi Onsen at the foot of Mt. Kinpu in the Kyohoku region, which is famous for its high radium content, Yumura Onsen near Kofu City, and Isawa Onsen, which has rapidly developed since its hot springs began flowing in 1961 and has become a major hot spring resort. Among the beautiful gorges are Mitake Shosenkyo (special name) in the northern outskirts of Kofu City, Nishizawa Valley in the upper reaches of the Fuefuki River, Katsura River Valley, which is also known as a fishing spot, and Shiroo Valley in the Noro River basin in the Southern Alps.
