Danish politician and theologian. In the 1840s, as a leader of the National Liberal Party, he was active in calling for universal suffrage and a constitution through pamphlets and the newspaper Fatherland. After the bloodless revolution of 1848, he joined the new cabinet and served as Minister of Culture. He was the main drafter of the 1849 constitution, and after serving as supervisor of the county of Lolland (1849-54), he rejoined the cabinet as Minister of Culture (1860-63) and became Prime Minister in December 1863. デンマークの政治家，神学者。1840年代に国民自由党の指導者として普通選挙権，憲法を求めてパンフレットや機関紙《祖国》などの紙上で活躍，48年の無血革命により新内閣に入閣し，文化相を務める。49年の憲法の主たる草案作成者であり，ロラン･ファルスター県の監督(1849‐54)を経て，文化相として再入閣(1860‐63)，63年12月首相の地位に就き，64年の対ドイツ戦争は彼のもとで遂行された。【村井誠人】
