A collection of Buddhist tales from the late Kamakura period. Compiled by Rinzai monk Dokyo Ichien (1226-1312). 1 volume. Ichien was known as Muju and was posthumously named Daien Kokushi (→Muju Ichien). It is thought to have been compiled in his later years. It is a collection of tales on impermanence, asceticism, karma, and keeping the precepts, and is called Tsumakyo because it was aimed at women. It is famous as one of the few kana-written Buddhist language (kana-hogo) for women, along with Kakusai's Meigosho. Ichien also compiled and wrote other collections of Buddhist tales, such as Shasekishu, Shozaishu, and Zatsudanshu.
