mall
maul

In rugby, this refers to a situation where one or more players from each team stand around a player with the ball and compete for the ball. For the attacking team, it is an important starting point for an attack. A nearby teammate binds the player with the ball, like a wedge, to secure the ball. A driving maul is a situation where players form a maul and gradually advance while skillfully controlling the ball. A crowded battle when the ball is on the ground is called a ruck.
