Molybdate - Molybdenum salt

A salt of molybdic acid with the general formula x M ^I ₂ O y MoO ₃ z H ₂ O. The simplest composition is orthomolybdate M ^I ₂ MoO _4. Molybdic acid has a strong tendency to condense; for example, an aqueous solution of potassium salt K ₂ MoO ₄ is alkaline, but when acid is added to it, condensation proceeds depending on the hydrogen ion concentration, producing isopolymolybdate ions such as Mo ₂ O ₇ ²⁻ , Mo ₇ O ₂₄ ⁶⁻ , HMoO ₂₄ ⁵⁻ , Mo ₈ O ₂₆ ⁴⁻ , and H ₂ Mo ₈ O ₂₆ ^2−.

一般式xM^I₂O･yMoO₃･zH₂Oで表されるモリブデン酸の塩。最も簡単な組成のものはオルトモリブデン酸塩M^I₂MoO₄である。モリブデン酸は縮合する傾向が強く，たとえばカリウム塩K₂MoO₄の水溶液はアルカリ性を呈するが，これに酸を加えていくと水素イオン濃度により縮合が進み，Mo₂O₇^2－やMo₇O₂₄^6－，HMoO₂₄^5－，Mo₈O₂₆^4－，H₂Mo₈O₂₆^2－などのイソポリモリブデン酸イオンを生成する。
