〘Noun〙 A cultivated variety of Hachiku. The surface of the culm has purple-brown cloud-shaped spots. It grows wild in the mountains of Shiga Prefecture, but is also planted in gardens for decorative purposes and used to make brush handles, walking sticks, and bamboo crafts. Spotted bamboo. 〘名〙 ハチクの栽培品種。稈(かん)の表面に紫褐色の雲紋形の斑点がある。滋賀県の山地などに自生もあるが、観賞用に庭に植えられ、筆軸、杖、竹細工の材料ともなる。斑竹(はんちく)。こはんちく。たんばはんちく。とらふだけ。
