Agricultural books

Japanese:
Agricultural books
Agricultural books from before agriculture was established as a natural science. In Western Europe, there are many famous works, such as Hesiod's Works and Days, Virgil's Agricultural Poems, J. Fitzbert's Encyclopedia of Agriculture, J. Thal's Masui Farming Method, and Albrecht Theer's Principles of Rational Agriculture. The first agricultural book in Japan is the seven-volume Seiryo-ki by Matsuura Soan of Iyo Province. It was thought to have been written in 1564, but today it is widely believed to have been written after the Kan'ei era (1624-1643). Around the Genroku period (late 1600s), works such as Hyakusho-denki, Aizu Nosho, and Saizō-ki were published, but the most representative is Miyazaki Yasutada's Encyclopedia of Agriculture, which details the cultivation and raising of about 150 types of crops and livestock. In the late Edo period, there are works such as Sato Nobuhiro's "Six Plant Cultivation Methods," Okura Nagatsune's "Farmers' Benefits," and Shimazu Shigehide's "Illustrated Guide to Plant Formation," but they have a strong flavor of translations of Chinese and Dutch documents. In China, "Chen Zhi Nongshu" and "Wang Zhen Nongshu" are famous.
