Station - station

A railway term referring to stations, signal boxes, and marshalling yards. The "Ministry Ordinance Prescribing Technical Standards for Railways" (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Ordinance No. 151 of 2001) defines it as "stations, signal boxes, and marshalling yards."

The ministerial ordinance defines a station as a place used for the embarking and disembarking of passengers or the loading and unloading of cargo, a signal box as a place used primarily for trains to pass or wait, and a marshalling yard as a place used primarily for the shunting of vehicles or the formation (formation) of trains.

駅、信号場、操車場をさす鉄道用語。「鉄道に関する技術上の基準を定める省令」（平成13年国土交通省令第151号）に「駅、信号場及び操車場をいう」と定義されている。

　同省令では、駅とは旅客の乗降または貨物の積み下ろしを行うために使用される場所、信号場とはもっぱら列車の行き違いまたは待ち合わせを行うために使用される場所、操車場とはもっぱら車両の入換えまたは列車の組成（編成）を行うために使用される場所と、それぞれ定義されている。
