A town in Kayabe-gun, Hokkaido. The town is served by the JR Hakodate Main Line, the Do-o Expressway, National Route 5, and Route 278. Mount Komagatake towers to the east, and Uchiura Bay to the north. The town once prospered through herring and sardine fishing. Scallop farming and greenhouse cultivation using geothermal energy are popular. Hokkaido's first geothermal power plant is located here.
