Civil War during the reign of Emperor Keitai and Emperor Kinmei

Civil War during the reign of Emperor Keitai and Emperor Kinmei
This civil war is thought to have broken out over the succession to the throne at the end of the reign of Emperor Keitai in the first half of the 6th century. The Nihon Shoki states that Emperor Keitai died in the 25th year of the Xinhai era (531), and the throne was vacant for two years until the first year of Emperor Ankan's reign (534). Meanwhile, while the Nihon Shoki states that Buddhism was officially introduced in the Jinshin era (552), the Jogū Shōtoku Hōō Tei-setsu and Gangō-ji Engi state that it was in the Bogo era (538), and that Emperor Kinmei ascended to the throne in the Xinhai era, which is connected to the year of the death of Emperor Keitai, leaving no room for the reigns of Emperors Ankan and Senka in between.
