A Kabuki dance drama. Tokiwazu. The original title is "Kou no Tsuno Moji of Koi on Modoribashi." Written by Kawatake Mokuami. It was first performed in October 1890 (Meiji 23) at the Kabukiza in Tokyo, with the 5th Onoe Kikugoro Sayuri as a demon woman and the 1st Ichikawa Sadanji Watanabe no Tsuna. Music composed by the 6th Kishizawa Shikisa, choreography by the 1st Hanayagi Jusuke. Watanabe Tsuna becomes companions with a beautiful woman named Ogiori Sayuri on the Ichijo Modoribashi Bridge at night, and when she makes a kudoki pattern, he recognizes her as the incarnation of the demon of Atagoyama, and they start a fight and cut off one of her arms. This was selected by Kikugorou as one of his family's "Ten Kinds of New and Old Drama," and was later made into a specialty by the 6th Onoe Baiko, who passed it down to the present day. The highlights are Sayuri's kudoki and the miarawashi, and at the end of the act, the demon woman grabs the collar of the rope and jumps into the air.
