Ishikawa Isthmus

Japanese: 石川地峡 - いしかわちきょう

...At its narrowest point, it is just under 4km wide and forms an isthmus, with significant differences in geology and topography between the north and south of the isthmus that connects Ishikawa and Nakadomari. North of the Ishikawa Isthmus is the mountainous region of Kunigami County, also known as Yanbaru. The Motobu Peninsula on the west side, bordered by the Nago Fault, is a mountainous region made up of Paleozoic limestone, slate, and sandstone strata, while the main part on the east side is made up of the Mesozoic Nago and Kayo formations, forming a mountainous backbone.
