…German pastor and astronomer. Born in East Frisia. His son was Johannes Fabritius (1587-1615), another astronomer who observed and published sunspots. As a Protestant pastor, he worked from Leicesterhaven to Osterhael, while also conducting astronomical observations, and discovered that the star in Cetus, which he had been observing since 1596, periodically changes in light. Today, it is called Mira, after the observation record of this star by J. Hevelius, famous for classifying stars, in his Historiola Mirae Stellae. …

…ドイツの牧師，天文学者。オストフリースラント生れ。同じ天文学者で太陽黒点を観測，発表したヨハンネス･ファブリチウス(1587‐1615ころ)は息子。プロテスタントの牧師として，レスターハーベからオストエールに勤務するかたわら天体観測を行い，1596年から観測しつづけたくじら座の星が周期的に変光することを発見。星の分類で著名なJ.ヘベリウスのこの星についての観測記録《Historiola Mirae Stellae》にちなんで，今日ではMiraと呼ばれている。…
