A sijo (traditional Korean poem) writer and poet of the late Yi Dynasty. His pen name was Bohan, and his pen name was Nampo. Along with Nogajae Kim Sujang (1690-?), he is one of the most representative sijo writers of the 18th century, born of commoner origin. He gathered his followers in the Gyeongjeongsan poetry circle and breathed new life into sijo poetry. Until then, the mainstream of sijo poetry was composed by scholars and writers, who improvised tales of leisurely feelings and were moralistic and idealistic. His sijo poetry was characterized by its realistic and humorous depictions, and drew its subject matter from everyday life. He also contributed to the compilation of sijo poetry, and his work "Seongkyu Yongeun" (1728) was the first sijo collection in Korea. 74 of his own sijo poems remain to this day.
