A Spanish word referring to Christians who lived together in a mixed community in medieval Spain under Islamic rule. In Arabic, it was called mustariba. It was the name used by Spanish Muslims to refer to Christians living in Córdoba, Seville, Toledo, and many other cities (Christians who converted to Islam were called renegados).
