Moulins - Moulins (English spelling)

It is the capital of the Allier department in central France. It is located 292 km south-southeast of Paris, along the middle reaches of the Allier River. It has a population of 21,892 (1999). In the Middle Ages and early modern times, it was the central city of the Duchy of Bourbon, and in the old town remain the ruins of the 14th century castle of the Dukes of Bourbon, Moulins Cathedral which houses an altarpiece by the 15th century Moulins Painter, the 15th century bell tower Jacquemart, and the chapel of the Lycée Banville (17th century). Industries such as leather, machinery, and electricity are carried out here.

フランス中部、アリエ県の県都。パリの南南東292キロメートル、アリエ川中流沿いに位置する。人口2万1892（1999）。中・近世にはブルボン公領（ブルボネ）の中心都市で、旧市街には14世紀のブルボン公爵の城跡、15世紀のムーランの画家の祭壇画を蔵するムーラン大聖堂、15世紀の鐘楼ジャックマール、リセ・バンビルの礼拝堂（17世紀）が残る。皮革、機械、電気などの工業が行われる。
