Year of birth: Unknown A military commander in the Azuchi-Momoyama period. Commonly known as Yoshibei, he was later called Tamibu no Jō. He served Oda Nobunaga, and after Nobunaga came to Kyoto in 1568 with Ashikaga Yoshiaki, he was involved in Kyoto's civil administration. In November of the same year, he was appointed Tamibu no Shoyu, and later, when Ashikaga Yoshiaki had a falling out with Nobunaga, he admonished Yoshiaki. He also negotiated with the Imperial Court, such as repairing the Imperial Palace. From July 1573, he held the important position of Kyoto shoshidai, and in 1573, he was appointed Nagato no Kami. In battles, he participated in the attack on Ishiyama Hongan-ji Temple in 1574, but his achievements as a magistrate were more notable, such as the construction of Azuchi Castle, the construction of Kyoto Nanban-ji Temple, and the construction of the Shijō Bridge. He shaved his head and took the name Shunchoken. In September of the same year, he captured a woman who was a human trafficker. During the Honnoji Incident, he was killed in battle at Nijo Palace alongside Nobunaga's eldest son, Nobutada.

安土桃山時代の武将。通称吉兵衛,次いで民部丞を称した。織田信長に仕え,永禄11(1568)年,信長が足利義昭を擁して上洛してからは,京都の民政に携わった。同年11月,民部少輔に任じられ,その後,足利義昭が信長と不和になったとき,義昭を諫めたことがある。また,禁裏御所の修築など,朝廷との折衝にも当たっている。天正1(1573)年7月からは京都所司代の要職にあり,同3年,長門守に任ぜられた。合戦では,同4年の石山本願寺攻めに加わったこともあるが,むしろ,安土城の築城や,京都南蛮寺の建設,さらに四条の橋の架橋など,奉行としての業績にみるべきものがあった。剃髪して 春長軒 を称した。同7年9月には人買いの女を捕らえている。本能寺の変のとき,信長の嫡子信忠に殉じ二条御所で討死した。
