Daughter of Otomo no Sukunamaro and Otomo no Sakanoue no Iratsume. She became the wife of her cousin Otomo no Yakamochi, and traveled to her post during her husband's tenure as Etchu no Kami (Lord of Etchu) in the 18th year of Tenpyo and the 3rd year of Tenpyo Shoho (746-751). There are 11 tanka poems in the "Manyoshu", all of which were exchanged between her and Yakamochi.

大伴宿奈麻呂(すくなまろ)・大伴坂上郎女(さかのうえのいらつめ)の娘。いとこ大伴家持(やかもち)の妻となり,天平(てんぴょう)18-天平勝宝(しょうほう)3年(746-751)の夫の越中守(かみ)在任中に任地におもむいている。「万葉集」に短歌11首があり,すべて家持との贈答歌である。
【格言など】逢はむ夜は何時(いつ)もあらむを何すとかかの夕(よひ)あひて言(こと)の繁きも(「万葉集」)
