The name of a region in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. Formerly known as Rio Muni. An exclave on the mainland facing the Gulf of Guinea, including the coastal island of Corisco. Generally hot and humid, covered with tropical rainforest. Most of the inhabitants are Fan people, and the region produces coffee and timber. The main city is Bata.
