The Supreme Secret - Mujōhyō (English)

Japanese: 無上秘要 - むじょうひよう（英語表記）Wú shàng mì yào

A type of treatise on Taoist doctrine compiled by order of Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty in China. There are currently 67 volumes in existence. It excerpts and quotes from many Taoist scriptures that existed at the time, explaining everything from doctrines about the origin of the universe to specific rituals. It is considered one of the results of research into Taoist doctrine that was carried out at the Tongdaoguan Temple of the Northern Zhou Dynasty under the influence of Buddhist doctrine. It also includes many ancient Taoist scriptures that have been lost, making it of great value in understanding Taoism up until the end of the Northern and Southern Dynasties. [Mugiya Kunio]
