Bignonia is an evergreen climbing shrub of the Bignonia genus of the Bignoniaceae family. It is found mainly in Central and South America, but there are also over 80 species in Southeast Asia, Africa, North America, etc. The leaves are opposite trifoliate compound leaves, and the leaflets at the very tip are branched tendrils. The flowers are borne in axillary cymes. The corolla is funnel-shaped. This genus was once a large group of over 400 species including various Bignoniaceae plants, but has since been classified and subdivided into about 50 genera, including Clytostoma , Doxantha , and Pyrostegia . ノウゼンカズラ科ツリガネカズラ属Bignoniaの常緑のつる性低木。おもに中南米に産するほか,東南アジア,アフリカ,北アメリカなどに80種あまりを産する。葉は対生の3出複葉,最先端の小葉は枝分れした巻きひげ状となる。花は腋生(えきせい)する集散花序につく。花冠は漏斗状。この属はかつては,雑多なノウゼンカズラ科の植物を含む400種あまりの大きな群であったが,その後,分類が整理され,クリトストマClytostoma,ドキサンサDoxantha,ピロステギアPyrostegiaなど約50属に細分されるようになった。
