Mingrelian

Japanese: ミングレル族 - ミングレルぞく（英語表記）Mingrelian

A Georgian tribe. In Russian they are called Megrel. They are the remnants of the ancient Colchis Kingdom, which flourished on the Black Sea coast. They currently live on the right bank of the Rioni River and in the river basins of the Hobi and Ingri, as well as in Abkhazia in close-knit groups. Along with the Karts and Svans, they were the main source of the Georgian nation. In the mid-16th century, the Dadiani family, which ruled over the region, gained de facto independence from the Imeretian Georgian Kingdom and extended their control over Abkhazia, and their territory was called Samegrelo.

グルジア人の一種族。ロシア語ではメグレル族Megrel。古代に黒海沿岸で栄えたコルキス王国の遺民である。現在ではリオニ川右岸とホビ，イングリなどの河川盆地に，また緊密な集団をなしてアブハジアに住む。カルト人，スバン人などとともにグルジア民族形成の主要な母体となった。16世紀中葉，領主ダディアニ家はイメレティア･グルジア王国から事実上独立して，アブハジアにも支配権を及ぼし，その領域はサメグレロと呼ばれた。
