Asamai - Asamai

This is the central district of Hirakamachi, Yokote City, in southern Akita Prefecture. The former Asamai town became Hirakamachi in 1956 (Showa 31), and was merged into Yokote City in 2005 (Heisei 17). The name Asamai already appeared in the Middle Ages, and in the early modern period it was a post station on the Waki ​​Highway and a market town with morning markets on days ending in 1, 4, and 6, but today the markets are held on days ending in 1, 4, 6, and 8. Asamai Park is known as a famous spot for irises.

秋田県南部、横手市平鹿町(ひらかまち)の中心地区。旧浅舞町は1956年（昭和31）に平鹿町となり、2005年（平成17）横手市に合併した。中世にすでに浅舞の名がみえ、近世は脇(わき)街道の宿駅、また1、4、6のつく日に朝市の立つ市場町であったが、現在は1、4、6、8のつく日に朝市が立つ。浅舞公園は、アヤメの名所として知られる。
