Kusakaya danger words - Soubou Kigen

This is a work by the late Edo period Confucian scholar Nakai Chikuzan. It is a 5-volume work. It was written in 1788 (Tenmei 8) in response to a request from Matsudaira Sadanobu, the then Chief Advisor of the Council of Elders. A part of it was completed the following year in 1789 (Kansei 1) and presented to him, and the entire work was completed in 1791. The contents of the book include topics such as the royal family, the national system, alternate attendance, transfer of provinces, loans from feudal lords, under the command of the emperor, the foreign trade market, Korea, the Ryukyu Islands, the Emishi, gold and silver coins, water supplies, prices, regular storehouses, shrine storehouses, household gates, the poor, rice prices, wealth at temples and shrines, rice brokers, horse brokers in towns, abandoned children, and personal caps, and it offers a wide range of proposals on various issues related to the political, economic, and social policies of the feudal domain system. What is particularly distinctive about the book is its extensive reference to the lives of ordinary people. This is based on Takeyama's long experience teaching at Kaitokudo, a school for townspeople in Osaka.

江戸後期の儒学者中井竹山(ちくざん)の著作。5巻。1788年（天明8）、時の大老松平定信の諮問(しもん)に応じて書いたもので、翌1789年（寛政1）に一部を脱稿して献上、91年に全巻を脱稿した。内容は、王室、国家制度、参勤交代、国替(くにがえ)、諸侯大借、御麾下(きか)、外舶互市、朝鮮、琉球(りゅうきゅう)、蝦夷(えぞ)、金銀幣(へい)、水利、物価、常平倉(じょうへいそう)、社倉、戸口、窮民、米相場、寺社富(とみ)、米仲仕(なかし)、町中馬方仲仕、捨子、身上限などで構成されており、幕藩制の本質にかかわる政治・経済・社会政策など経世上の諸問題が多岐にわたって建策されている。なかでも特徴的なのは、広く一般庶民の生活に言及していることである。これは、竹山が大坂町人の学塾懐徳堂(かいとくどう)で長く教えていた経験に基づくものである。
