A former town in Kami County in northwest Miyagi Prefecture. Occupying the upper reaches of the Naruse River, rice cultivation such as Sasanishiki is thriving. Livestock farming is also carried out. Yutori Swamp, on the border with the former Onoda Town, is a habitat for iron fish (a natural monument). 宮城県北西部，加美(かみ)郡の旧町。鳴瀬川上流域を占め，ササニシキなどの米作が盛ん。畜産も行う。旧小野田町との境にある魚取(ゆとり)沼はテツギョ生息地（天然記念物）。2003年４月，中新田町，小野田町と合併して加美町となる。177.77km2。6309人（2000）。
