[Outline of national politics]
(1) The King and the Privy Council Britain is officially still a kingdom, and the law tends to use the word Sovereign or Crown instead of State. For example, the government is referred to as Her Majesty's Government, and the courts as the Queen's Courts. But much of the political process today is understandable without any mention of the King, the Privy Council, or even the House of Lords, both of which once played important roles.
