Miyazaki [Village] - Miyazaki

Japanese: 宮崎[村] - みやざき

A village in Nyu County, central Fukui Prefecture. Population 4,002 (1995). The settlement is in a mountain basin in the Nyu Mountains, and is long and narrow from east to west, bordering Sabae City to the east and Takefu City to the south. Blessed with china clay, it is known as a production center of Echizen ware, and there are ancient Echizen kiln sites extending to the neighboring Oda town area to the north. In Shinmeigadani in Ozohara, there is a Sueki kiln site, and the Echizen Ceramic Art Village is located in the area, along with the Prefectural Ceramics Testing Station and the Ceramic Art Museum. In addition to rice and vegetables, the area is also famous for its bamboo shoots. The Aiki family house in Ozohara (an important cultural property) is said to be a standard Edo-period house in this region, with a hip-and-gable roof and thatched roof.

福井県中部，丹生（にゆう）郡の村。人口4002(1995)。丹生山地の山間盆地に集落があり，村落は東西に細長く，東は鯖江市，南は武生（たけふ）市に接する。陶土にめぐまれて越前焼の産地として知られ，北隣の織田（おた）町域にかけて越前古窯跡群がある。小曾原（おぞはら）の神明ヶ谷には須恵器窯跡があり，一帯には越前陶芸村が設置されており，県立窯業試験場，陶芸館がある。農業は米や野菜のほか，たけのこが特産。小曾原にある相木家住宅(重要文化財)は入母屋造茅葺きの江戸時代のこの地方の標準的な民家といわれる。
