Mimura-so

Japanese:
Mimura-so
A manor in Omi Province. It is thought to have been the area centered around Shimago, Gamou County (present-day Omihachiman City, Shiga Prefecture), but some say it was in Aichi County. It was part of the territory of the Goganji Temple Hoshogon-in (Shirakawa Mido) of the retired Emperor Toba, and in 1159 it was taxed 300 koku of rice, 1.6 koku of oil, and 300 sheets of straw. In 1228, Emperor Horikawa donated his position as lord to the Saito of Enryaku-ji Temple, but the following year he was suspended at the request of the shogunate, and it is thought that it was later passed on to Enman-in of Onjo-ji Temple. In 1330, the grounds and office of Hoshogon-in Temple were donated by Emperor Godaigo to Toji Temple in Kyoto, but half of the manor had already been sold by Toji Temple to Rokkaku Ujiyori, and his vassals also owned some of the land. From around 1362, there was a dispute between Hoshogon-in Temple and Toji Temple's miscellaneous priests, and in 1374, the temple land within the manor, including Shimago, was made the property of Toji Temple. At one time, half of the land was given to Kacho Monzeki, but in 1478, after repeated appeals, it was returned to Toji Temple. A market was set up in Shimago, and in 1501, a dispute arose between Yokozeki and Honai merchants over the Gofukuza.
