Kam-Sui language group

...The southern group is dominated by borrowings from Old Indian (Sanskrit, Pali) and Cambodian (Khmer), the eastern group from Vietnamese, the western group from Mon-Burmese, and the northern group from Chinese. The Kham-Sui group (Kham, Sui, Mak, Teng, etc.), found in the Chinese provinces of Guizhou, Guangxi, and Hunan, is closely related to the Tai languages. The Thai languages ​​are generally considered to belong to the Sino-Tibetan family, but there is also the Austro-Tai theory, which seeks to link them with the Indonesian or Austronesian languages ​​via the Kadai group (Lati, Laka, Kelao, and Li languages).
