A photographic term referring to the polishing of prints. It originates from the practice of placing photographic prints on iron plates and drying them. Nowadays, ferrotyping is done by heating chrome-plated metal or stainless steel plates with electric heating wires. It is most effective to use thin, glossy photographic paper for the polishing process.
