? - Around 1542 A 16th century North Indian Sufi poet. According to his own writings, Jaesi was born to a landowner in Jayas, a town in the present-day Rae Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, and joined the Chishti order at a young age, spending the rest of his life farming and studying in the town. Using love stories popular among the people at the time as material, Jaesi preached the unity of God and man in a story about a hero who falls in love with a beautiful princess and overcomes hardships to be united with her, allegorizing the beautiful princess as God and the hero who loves her as the man who seeks God.
